“I don’t want no volunteers, I don’t want no mates, there’s too many captains on this island. Ten thousand dollars for me by myself. For that you get the head, the tail, the whole damn thing.”
– Quint, Jaws (1975)
Asleep at the Wheel is run by I, Captain; a father and film lover who transmits from one of the most isolated cities on earth – Perth, Western Australia.
This wordpress blog is an upgrade from an older version I have ran on blogger for the last 3-4 years. You can check out that site over here: http://fuzzylogicfuzzyface.blogspot.com/. For the next few months, this incarnation will be in construction mode, it’s appearance changing possibly daily with posts here, there or just disappearing. This will be a temporary situation.
This blog, like it’s previous incarnation, will mainly consist of new and older film reviews, but occasionally an album review will creep in, as I am just as passionate about music as I am about film. Plus I have varied tastes to say the least in both categories, so expect a vast range of genres and styles up for review – they will all be by me unless stated otherwise. As I have just become a father for the first time (!), the updates and reviews may be a bit slow at the moment. Getting to the cinema to view new releases, let alone reviewing them is a bit more time consuming than I need it to be right now. You understand. In the meantime, click on the link to the blogger site to read up on some of the 50+ posts already uploaded from myself covering films released in the last few years – some of the retro reviews will be transferred into v2.0 however.
On the rarest of ocassions, there may be a post on something completely non-related to anything; a “rant” if you will; though these are not likely to appear often. I have opinion just like everybody else who has a blog (which is everybody), but I don’t really feel beyond those related to the arts, I can be bothered uploading them into an already overloaded world wide wank.
Films, music and possibly even TV. This is the agenda. I’ve decided to start rating my reviews now as well, which I never did on the old Wheel – I’m not really sure why but at the very least it gives people an easy gauge of my literal opinion so, so be it. All ratings will be Marty (Scorsese) heads out of five. Thanks to MissNJ! for the creating these avatars for me.
Of course, feel free to comment on how wrong my opinions are as I go along. I appreciate any and all feedback.
